Starbot Dev Log 1

Story:

You are an astronaut stationed aboard the Space Station J0-5H. One day, your AI Assistant, A1-3X, becomes corrupted by the Space Storm outside, and goes Rogue. You must fight your way through the Space Station, and put a stop to A1-3X before it’s too late.

Game Mechanic:

For our game, one of the first Game Mechanics will be the Effective Range of Weapons. For example, shotguns will be effective at short ranges due to the spread of each shotgun shell. Rifles will have a more balanced role, being able to work in medium ranges best, but being decent in short and long ranges. The sniper rifle is designed for very long distances, but not good for short ranges due to the slow rate of fire. These effective ranges will encourage players to use different weapons depending on the situation. Since enemies wander around the map, players can lure enemies into more favorable scenarios.

There are multiple Game Variables we will feature, and some of them include Gun Variables, Bullet Variables, Unit Variables, and Gameplay variables. Gun Variables include Damage Modifiers, Rate of Fire, Bullet Spread, Reload Time, and Armor. Bullet variables include Damage, Speed, Explosive Radius, and Piercing. Unit Variables for Players as well as Enemies include Health, Movement Speed, Armor, and Stamina. Gameplay Variables include Levels, Objectives, Lives, and Enemy Count.

Art Assets:

Weapon Art Assets for the Game. You can see the Rifle (Top) and the Shotgun (Bottom).

Assets such as this Desk help make the Space Station more lively.

Enemy Assets will wander the Space Station and attack the Player when he appears in view.

Here is an example of our Map, using several Wall and Floor Assets.
